If you fancy quilting in the ditch how about quilting a square in a square on each block? Taking the final photo as an example start quilting at the edge of the outer dotty rectangle (on the left hand side of the block) and go up to the corner (of the same rectangle) and quilt along the 'top' edge of the block, down the other side and along the .bottom'. Then back up the first side until you're back where you started then turn right and quilt along the top of the smaller dotty rectangle and then down the other side to meet the line that's round the edge of the block.
