Bee-ing busy

I made a pact with myself that the first makes of the month will be my bee blocks. First up is my hipBee block for Rachel. Rachel wanted us to use her Liberty prints to make a  variation on the block called Puss in Boots. I think that both Rachel and I have put the hipBees off flying geese for a very long time!
Puss in the Corner variation with Liberty fabric accents

I have also done the Bee a Brit Stingy blocks for Jan. Jan had asked for 'Road to Tennessee blocks'. I have to say that I did these two blocks in one sitting and never again!!!
Road to Tennessee - Block 1

Road to Tennessee - Block 2

On my 'to do' list are an extra trippy block for the Siblings Together quilt that the Bee a Brit Stingy gang are making, along with the Bee Blessed blocks (fabric shopping for that one tomorrow at Duxford). So in fact although I have been busy I haven't been busy enough!

  1. You know that is smart! Bee blocks first thing every month before anything else that month! I think I shall incorporate that into my bee-ing :)

  2. Your blocks are beautiful! That Road to Tennessee pattern looks fabulous but is a bit of a humdinger to make up, I know. Think that's why it proved less popular at Bee Blessed last month.

  4. Ha, I can see why the "road" blocks would get on your wick, there is a lot of lining up to get the points pointy, oops! Fabric shopping at Duxford? I thought the only thing there was an air museum!! :o)

  8. Lovely Bee blocks! I enjoyed doing the Road to Tennessee elements that turn into the Japanese + and x blocks but I guess the '+' bit knocks out the need to line up any points! Great work, big pat on the back for ticking those Bee blocks off your list x

  10. Gorgeous blocks Di! Such a sensible plan doing bee blocks at the start of the month - something I aspire to but never do for some reason!

  12. Those are great blocks. I have two different bee blocks done this week and need to get them in the mail, I don't know why that seems more challenging than the blocks sometimes.

  14. But know that your efforts (and swearing) were worth it. They are beautiful blocks! And a great idea to do bee stuff first. I try and make them within a week of the fabrics arriving but - as you well know - I have been woefully short of that target lately!

  16. All your blocks look brilliant. Especially the ones for me :-) LOVE them. You'll be pleased/relieved to hear I've just done the cutting for your bee block and after I've had a little rest (I'm such a light weight at the moment) I'll be sewing!
