The high of my recent sewing is definitely my weekender bag. Do you want to know what the low is? I am going to make a full confession of botching up a bee block.
I was devastated when I realised what I had done. I am always very careful with bee blocks made in someone else's fabric. I normally change my rotary blade if it is dull, use a new needle and check and recheck dimensions before I cut. Yesterday, I did all this as I set about cutting into Karen's beautiful fabric that she sent out for her hipBee block.
Where did that hole appear from? |
How did that happen? |
It took me ages to figure out what I had done but after a lot of head scratching I realised that I had miscalculated the pieces by 1/2". I am so sorry Karen. This block is really simple and I failed completely. So fellow hipBees do you want to sack me as your bee Mama? I haven't set a very good example. And Karen - please answer my email and put me out of my misery.
I hope you have a better sewing day than I did yesterday. I am now in the middle of making the Bee Blessed blocks but at least if I mess these up I don't have to confess!
Di x
Oh dear!! Don't fret, it'll get sorted xx
ReplyDeleteI'm sure all will be forgiven! I think I might have messed one up too!
ReplyDeleteit's so easily done. I've had to ask for more fabric twice now.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the hip bees won't sack you......an easy mistake, but I'm sure it can easily be put right......nobody's perfect!
ReplyDeleteOh Di, please don't worry! We've all been there! I'm sure Karen won't mind at all! It sounds like you are better doing the complicated stuff! LOL! Jxo
ReplyDeletehmmm contract under review ... Kidding! It's so easy to just make a wee mistake. Don't panic I'm sure Karen will be able to resolve it!
ReplyDeleteI bet she can use a smaller block on the back or for something else, say matching pillow? Or add a border and use it that way? I totally relate to this stress of messing up the fabric of others.
ReplyDeleteoh poo! Nevermind, Karen might make you walk the plank for this but we won't sack you ;)
ReplyDeleteOh I hate when things like this happen. But they do happen to all of us. Honest!
ReplyDeleteI think it's happened to most of us at some stage. I'm sure it will all be alright in the end.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was sewing the last bee blocks I thought for a second that I'd used the following month's fabric (I was a bit late). Luckily I hadn't but that would have messed up two blocks. I hope I will learn from it and keep up to date with my blocks and keep fabrics well separated.
You're fired, mate!
ReplyDeleteOnly kidding, pet. It's a horrible feeling but we have ALL done similar at one point. I've not made mine yet - I could be joining you yet!
It' easily done, I wouldn't stress about it, but it's always worse when it's someone elses fabric! :o)
ReplyDeleteNo you're not fired..... my block for Rachel last month had all the corners chopped off - it seems there's always one particular block that stumps us - this month was your turn - and so don't be worrying xxxx
ReplyDeleteMy blOck for Rachel was the same!!
DeleteIt's easy to get upset about this stuff happening and believe me we've all done it but in the scheme of things it isn't the end of the world. I'm sure all will be fine :)
ReplyDeleteNo, we will all still love you! It is nice to know you are as human as the rest of us,And all the blocks made for me are gorgeous! If there wasan odd corner missing- Tan's- it was still made with love! I expect it can be coped with! And, in a hundred years? it will just be a factor that makes it all more individual.
ReplyDeleteBad luck- you do not get out of bee mamma-ing that easily!
Omg DI I did same thing with rachels block and I feel so bad.. Going to do Karen's this evening but I was feeling terrible about messing up someone's fabric.. !! Glad we all make mistakes.. X
ReplyDeleteAww don't feel bad we all make mistakes - hugz. BTW I haven't forgotten about your sprout blocks I just did something stupid myself earlier in the week and am all behind again now!
ReplyDeleteAhh we'll not sack you! Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, send it back to me and I'll use it. No worries, I will use it in the quilt:)
ReplyDeleteThink you'll get out of being mama that easily? I doubt it!
ReplyDeleteWe learn more by our mistakes - well that is my excuse!
